Purple Poppy Memorial

The annual Purple Poppy Day, organised by the Ancre Somme Association Scotland, was held on the 23 August 2022 at the Purple Poppy Memorial located on the corner of Main Street and Ecclesmachan Road in Uphall.

President of the ASA William Buchanan welcomed all to the event.  The Depute Lord Lieutenant Caroline MacLachlan addressed those in attendance.  Community Council Chairperson Irene Bishop read the poem “If they could Speak”.

Community Councillors Irene Bishop, Lynne McEwen and Jonathan Moore laid the Wreath on behalf of Uphall Community Council.  Below are some images from the evening:
